Restaurant D'Angleterre

After a rebuild in 2005, the restaurant now looks more inviting and contemporary. Large, nice thick carpets mean that you do not feel like you are sitting in a large hall to eat, and even though some of the tables are close together, you can have a conversation without the person next to you listening in on every word.
We ordered shrimps with homemade mayonnaise as the first course. The shrimps were so boring and tough that we were not sure whether we were eating erasers or shrimps. The homemade mayonnaise did not look like mayonnaise, neither did it taste like it.
Afterwards, I had a nice breaded plaice that was at the level you would expect at this restaurant.
There is nothing wrong with the service, and the wine list reveals some real gems, but it is necessary for the food is at a completely different level as a whole before it is worthwhile to order these gems for your dinner.
Please be aware that a small lunch with a total of 4 courses (2 for each) and a couple of glasses of wine easily ends up costing more than DKK 1,000.
