After having read some professional reviews of Oubæk Restaurant, which pretty much all had praise for the restaurant, and for example wrote that Rasmus Oubæk is the King of Béarnaise, this was obviously a restaurant that we had to try out. Let me just say right away that the King of Béarnaise he is definitely not, as Skovshoved Restaurant’s Béarnaise beats his easily.
Well, we had booked a table for 8.15 PM and arrived exactly at 8:06, after which the waiter asked us to go outside and wait until 8:15. Yes, on the road… We return to the restaurant at 8:20, and are placed at a table the size of a small Ikea café table. We know what we want to eat, and therefore quickly order the food and ask for a wine list, and also ask if the waiter can recommend a wine for our Steak Béarnaise, which she cannot!
While we wait for our food, we have to introduce ourselves to guests sitting to the right and the left of us, as we are pretty much all holding hands. This is the closest we have sat to other guests to this date, which is definitely not charming.
Wine and water arrive at the table and are splashed into our glasses. I think it would be appropriate at this time to mention that, as far as we know, our waiter that evening was Rasmus Oubæk’s girlfriend/wife, who is of Asian origin, and she definitely takes first place as the most uncharming, rude and most awful waiter we have ever met. After our visit, I have read a lot of private reviews on Local Picks, and they have all pretty much had the same experience with the service as us.
It seems as if Rasmus Oubæk and his family simply have the restaurant to earn money to pay their bills, and we personally hope everyone reading this review will not help promote such poor service and atmosphere. McDonalds has better service than this place…
Back to the food, which is given a large 2 in the assessment. The meat was prepared perfectly, and was nice and tender, but don’t get me wrong, because with the right ingredients (which are available at all good butcher’s shops), anyone should be able to prepare their steak just as well.
We would like to conclude this by saying that Oubæk Restaurant is a candidate for Denmark’s worst restaurant!
